2022 Elite Travel Team

Junior Beach ClubWe have been involved in junior beach volleyball for over a dozen years. When our club acquired the Bottega Beach Facility in Snohomish, we partnered with  the AVP to open one of 6 AVP Academies on the West Coast.  The AVP no longer sponsors Academies, but the groundwork has been laid for a Junior Beach Club, which offers opportunities for over a hundred players of all ages and skill levels.  Beach volleyball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and with added college scholarship opportunities, our beach club is worth a look.

For the more experienced beach players on a college track, we offer an Elite Travel Team. Details on the 2022 Elite Travel Team are posted on this page.

Bottega Beach - NW Juniors Facility

Our training Facility: We have a private 6-court facility with many outdoor amenities. The focus of our program is on raising the level of play for all athletes in the region, regardless of skill level or age.

Facility Address: 16720 WA-9, Snohomish, WA 98296

Elite Team Details

Our intention is to provide our Elite Travel Team athletes a higher level experience. Combining the training schedule, the travel events, as well as the "recommended" tournament schedule. We feel that those athletes that are looking for a better experience and "team" experiences will find that with our program.  As part of the Elite Travel Team, three memberships will be needed:

  1. AVP America membership. This is our basic membership which covers our athletes for Spring training, Beach Club Practices, and our Beach Series events. It may also be needed to participate in one or more of our travel tournament. Players must secure the Silver Level or greater of this membership before their first activity at our beach facility and it is good for 12 months.
  2. USA Volleyball membership. Athletes that participate in indoor junior programming typically secure this membership as part of their participation.  For those that did not participate in an USAV indoor junior club, they can secure a "beach only" membership. This membership is required for the BNQ, BRQ, and travel events to Oregon.
  3. AAU membership. NW Juniors Beach tournaments.

2022 PRACTICE SCHEDULE

2022 Beach Club Season Dates:

  • First 1-day Practice begins the first week May. Player selects training day and time.
  • First 3-day Practice begins: Tuesday, May 31, 2022; 6:30-8:30pm
  • Last Practice: Thursday, August 4, 2022

Travel Tournaments Attendance

Travel tournament costs are not included in dues. If an athlete does not attend a travel tournament, then they are not billed for it. NW Juniors asks elite travel team athletes to make a best effort to attend two of the three travel events as their schedules allow. The benefits of the elite beach team extend beyond the travel tournaments themselves: 3 practice days per week as opposed to two; training alongside other elite travel members; working with more experienced beach coaches. If an athlete is invited to join the travel program, we feel their development as an athlete is better suited working alongside other athletes and coaches in this program.

**Important to note:

Subject: Chelan Tournament Info
Importance: High

Hello everybody-

I wanted to reach out with some info about this weekend’s tournaments in Chelan. Please see below and let me know if you have any questions--

  1. First and foremost the weather forecast is Fri 109 Sat 107 Sunday 105 – therefore the tournament host (K Beach) has moved check-in time up to 6:30am and curtailed the format so we can start when the weather is cooler and hopefully get done earlier in the afternoon (no later than 3pm is the hope)
  2. Coaches in attendance: Coach Joe, Coach Carlee, Coach Hannah
  3. The tournament courts are located at the Don Morse City Park in Chelan – they can’t be missed! As a reminder all teams play both days in two separate, one day tournaments except U18s who only play a single one day tournament
  4. The tournament host is offering a clinic for 8th – 12th graders Friday before the event (see attached brochure and registration link) cost is $50.00
  5. Temperatures are projected to be in the triple digits so please hydrate the day/s leading up to the event; everyone should know by now to bring sand socks, skin protection, eye protection, healthy food and drinks (contact me for suggestions if needed)
  6. Pool play will be one set to 21 – bracket play will be one set to 28 (except for the gold bracket semifinals and finals which will be a full regular match 2/3 21, 21, 15) all bronze and silver bracket play will be one set to 28
  7. U14s and U16s – top 2 in each pool goes to gold; 3rd goes to silver; 4th goes to bronze
  8. U12s and U18s – top 6 go to gold, bottom 6 go to silver
  9. There is not a lot of shade therefore we highly suggest parents bring canopies/umbrellas or anything to assist with providing a shaded area for our athletes/families. I’ll bring a large canopy and an umbrella however it will probably hold 6-10 at most at a time, and we have 24 athletes (and their families) attending this weekend.

TRAVEL TOURNAMENT #3: Seaside, OR

August 11-14, 2022: Seaside Beach Volleyball (AVP) (**Teams register individually, NWJRs does NOT register teams)

August 11-12 Doubles
August 13-14 Fours

*Tournament info - REGISTER: Seaside Beach Volleyball

**Seaside Divisions / Registration

Athletes are welcome to sign up for whatever division level they wish to compete in. We recommend signing up for A or AA level, unless they are very beach experienced (i.e. finalists in local tournaments) in which case we recommend they sign up for AVP America. Divisions will fill quickly so we recommend signing up ASAP.

TEAMS - TBD

LODGING

Seaside and Chelan Lodging

We cannot stress enough the importance of securing lodging near Seaside and Chelan for the listed event dates ASAP. Seaside hotels/motels are mostly already booked, and are usually more expensive and smaller than places that can be found on sites such as VRBO and AirBNB (and others). Often times families will have to secure rental-houses or motels 30 minutes away from the playing sites. Again, we recommend booking ASAP.

COACHING

Seaside Coaching Info

NW juniors (NWJRS) is providing a handful of beach coaches onsite for the duration of the doubles Seaside junior tournament. Coach Joe and Coach Carlee will be in attendance with a small cadre of coaches. There will be many more NWJRS teams than coaches at the event. There will be over 100 courts spread out along Seaside beach.  Not all NWJRS teams’ matches will have coaches present due to the logistics and number of teams. Additionally, many coaches will be competing in their own division which begins on the 2nd day of the junior event. Coach attendance will be a best effort. Coaches & teams/parents will coordinate at the event as best as possible.  The higher the division entered the more likely the team is to have a coach (higher divisions are more centrally located on the beach)

Two practice tees are included in the cost of registration for Beach Club.  In addition, those that are selected for the Elite Travel Team will be issued the following team gear (included in Elite team costs):

2022 TRYOUTS - Beach Club Elite TRAVEL Team

NW Juniors Elite Travel Team.

Step one in the process is to tryout for our Elite Travel Team. Players will be selected to our Travel team via the tryout process. We expect to take 16-24 total athletes in each category: U12/U14 and U16/U18. We will use the skill level of those at tryouts to determine the total number of athletes we select.

We encourage all those interested in our Elite Travel Team to  tryout to see where they rank among those interested. However, we ask that athletes and their families look at the practice, tournament, and travel schedules in determining whether or not they wish to take a spot on the Elite Travel Team. [REGISTER for Elite Travel Team Tryouts]

These are our tryout dates, they are open to anyone. If a player is not selected, they are encouraged to choose a M/W or T/Th spot in our beach club. Players only need to attend ONE of these times.

U12/U14/U16/U18:

  • Saturday, April 2nd; 2:00 - 4:30 PM
  • Saturday, April 16th; 2:00 - 4:30 PM

AVP America membership is required for tryouts. This is our basic membership which covers our athletes for Spring training, Beach Club Practices, and our Beach Series events. It may also be needed to participate in one or more of our travel tournament. Players must secure the Silver Level or greater of this membership before their first activity at our beach facility and it is good for 12 months.
