Tournament Cancellation and Changes Policy:  This is the policy outlined in your entry confirmation from Volleyball Life "We will allow a 50% refund up until the refund cutoff date. After that, there will be no refunds permitted under any circumstances.”

The Volleyball Life platform give entrants the ability to modify or change their entry. When you register, you receive an email with a direct link to your registration, this allows you to change partners, withdraw, or add a partner if you register as a place holder. If you withdraw before the refund cutoff - usually the Wednesday prior to the event, it will automatically issue the 50% refund. If the withdrawal is after the cutoff, no refund will be issued.

Rarely do we cancel tournaments, but in the event, we do cancel due to weather a full refund will be issued.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

NW Juniors will be hosting events with four seperate sanctioning bodies. With the growth of beach volleyball, several different sanctioning bodies offer National Championships, which means each one has their own way of qualifying teams to Nationals. We have set up our series of events in an attempt to give players of all ages and skill levels an opportinity to enjoy beach volleyall on their terms. An explanation on each is below.

AAU Sanctioned Events:

This year, our popular "Beach Series" events are sanctioned by AAU and are non-bid events. These events are for players of all skill levels and are ideal for players that have been playing for a while AND for players that are new to beach. AAU memberships are only $20 for athletes.

  • Indoors, our club hosts the AAU Spring Classic. If you participated in the Spring Classic, you already have an AAU Membership! That membership is good through August 31, of this year.
  • You need an AAU membership to participate in our indoor or beach camps; so you can also play in our beach series with that membership .

Note: Because the Beach Series events are non-bid events, we are able to offer players age waivers to play with the same age requirements as the other sanctioning bodies.

p1440 Sanctioned Events:

We host p1440 event this year. Typically memberships are $30-$50 per person.

  • Our first event is June 9-10 and is part of the Northwest Triple Crown Series. We have cash prizes for U16 and U18 divisions, and this event qualifies teams for the 2024 p1440 National Championships

2023 NW Jrs Beach Series (AAU Beach Tournaments)

NW Juniors Beach club will again host our very popular Junior Beach Series. Every participant in a Beach Series event will receive a NW Beach Series shirt the first time the play in one of our four series tournaments. All of the tournaments are AAU Volleyball  events, that are non-bid earning events, open to players of all levels. Each tournament in our series will be it's own "event" where players can play for prizes in multiple age groups and divisions. These tournaments are for players of all levels.  Players will earn points based on how they finish. Number of events played and how high you finish will determine your points.

Our Beach Series Final tournament is Saturday, August 17th. You will earn points throughout the series and the individual(s) with the highest points total at the end of the series will get a grand prize. You must play in at least 3 events in the series  (not counting the finals) to be eligible for the grand prize.

AVP America Sanctioned Tournaments

This has always been a staple for our beach events every summer. AVP America is the grass-roots arm of the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals). They sanction beach and grass events for juniors and adults throughout the country. They have a large audience and we host these events to give atheltes a chance to qualify for the National Championships. Please note that participants in these events do not have to want to go to nationals to participate. We have prizes for both Gold and Silver divisions in these events, so all participants have the chance to play for prizes and have a fun day at the beach. All AVP America junior events through June 25, 2024 are qualifying events for 2024 Nationals. Events after July 1 qualify teams for the East & West Coast Championships and accumulate points towards the 2025 Championships.

Age Groups for Junior tournaments

In general, USAV events will follow the same age groups as indoor USAV season (based on how old you are July 1, 2024).

AVP America and AAU events will use the traditional September 1 age groups (based on how old you will be on September 1, 2024)

AAU Age Group Requirements: 2023

Please note that because our events are non-bid events, we will use graduation year as our age cutoff instead of the 9/1 AAU cutoff.

AVP America Age Group Requirements: 2023

**AVP has subtlety changed the age group criteria for junior events. This change will affect a small number of athletes and has been made so those using AVP events as a tool for recruiting can be more easily compared against their peers in terms of their graduating class.

Queen of the Beach and King of the Beach --

NW Juniors has included Queen of the Beach (QOB) and King of the Beach (KOB)  tournaments to our Beach Schedule.

Enter these events as an individual. Play several games with and against other individuals. This year, you will enter a division by your experience level:

  • Advanced: Players who have been playing beach for a few years and have participated in several tournaments. Players who consistently finish in the top 4-6 teams. Primarily all U18, top U16, top U14 looking for a challenge.
  • Intermediate: Players who have been playing beach for at least one summer and/or indoor club for a few seasons (this is your second or later summer of beach) who occasionaly play in tournaments and rarely finish in the top 4. Primarily U16 and top U14, top U12 looking for a challenge.
  • Novice, "New to Beach" : Players who are playing beach for the first time and/or U12-14 players that are just getting started in beach. Primarily U14 and U12.

We will set limits for each division as we get closer to each tournament.

Additional Information about QOB/KOB Tournaments:

  • You enter as an individual. Not with your partner.
  • We are trying to determine the one (1) Queen or King of the Beach, not a Team of the Beach :) that's what the doubles tournaments are for!
  • In this format you are paired with other individuals in a pool and play with & against each of the players in your pool. At the end of the pool the top two individuals move up, the bottom two move down. Then we play a new pool.
  • When space allows we will offer Novice Divisions for those new to Beach Volleyball.
  • Top individual player from the Gold Pool is Queen or the King of the Beach
  • It's a great, FUN format that gives the players a lot of play (up to 9 total games each for EVERYONE).
  • We split into separate divisions as we go and give awards in each division, so everyone has a chance to win something!

The top player is named Queen of the Beach or King of the Beach because somewhere along they way they might have to: Play right or left side; make a weak player stronger; figure out how to beat a better player on the other side of the net with their partner that they have never played with; Adjust, think, problem-solve, win.
